California Support: Handbrake cannot be released

Modified on Tue, 12 Nov at 4:10 PM

The handbrake in the Grand California is designed in such a way that you can rotate the driver's seat without hitting it. That's why it sinks back to the floor when activated. This can give the impression that it is not engaged or not functioning. You release the handbrake as follows:

  • Lift the handbrake again.
  • Press the button at the front.
  • Hold the button down and pull the handbrake upwards.
  • If the button cannot be pressed or is missing, check if the handbrake cover has come loose and shifted. Then push the cover back towards the rear so that the button is exposed.
  • Release the handbrake with the button pressed.
  • The handbrake should now be released.
