California/Toskana Support: Gas stove

Modified on Thu, 22 Feb at 10:43 AM

If the gas stove is not working, it can have various causes. For this, you need to go to the trunk of the vehicle and check the gas bottle:

Is the bottle cap open, and is the lever with the small pot symbol below the sink vertical/open?

  • Before use, you must unscrew the gas bottle in the trunk until the cap is completely open. Likewise, the small lever under the sink in the kitchen area must be in a vertical position.

Have you pressed the hose breakage safety button?

  • For this, please press the black button directly on the hose at the gas bottle several times (usually you can also hear the air escaping).

Has the crash sensor been triggered or set to active?

  • For safety reasons, a gas crash sensor is installed in the vehicle. It can be triggered, for example, when driving over a larger bump. Simply push in the yellow dot, which has turned into a pin, and you can use the gas system as usual.

Is there still gas in the bottle?

  • If you have checked all these steps and the gas still doesn't work, it could also be that the gas bottle is empty. You can easily determine the fill level of the gas bottle by lifting it. If it is empty, it is really very light.
  • If you find a colored indicator and two gas bottles in your trunk, you can recognize the fill level of the gas bottle by the upper button. If the fields turn red, it means your gas bottle is empty. Then simply turn the black lever in the other direction so that the gray indicator points in the other direction, open the other gas bottle, press the black button on the hose of the bottle, and everything will work again as usual.
  • If the gas is empty, you can change the bottle. Simply unscrew the golden connector from the gas bottle. Remove the connection valve, open the holder of the gas bottle, and remove the gas bottle. It is very important to unscrew the protective cap and place the red cover, which you always find in the Grand California, over the valve. Then you can install a new gas bottle, the procedure is the same - just the other way around. Gas bottles can usually be refilled or exchanged at hardware stores or camping supply shops.
