If your refrigerator cannot be operated with gas, you can try the following steps. First, check if there is enough gas in the gas cylinder and if it is turned on.
Step 1: Test the Gas Stove
- Turn on the gas cylinder and activate the gas safety switch for the stove (under the kitchen counter).
- Turn on the gas stove briefly and check if gas is coming out.
- If yes: Try the refrigerator again, as there might have been air in the line.
- If no: Check the gas supply at the back.
- Is the gas cylinder turned on?
- Is the line vented?
- Open and close all gas lines 5-6 times to remove any possible air in the system.
Step 2: Multiple Venting
- Turn off the gas cylinder.
- Close all gas valves in the bottom compartment of the kitchen (4 in total).
- Turn off the main power (switch next to the entrance door).
- Reverse all steps.
- Press the safety valve on the gas cylinder (black button on the orange hose).
- You may need to repeat these steps several times.
Even if the gas stove works and you have vented the lines, there might still be air in the line leading to the refrigerator. If repeated venting doesn’t work, try this:
Step 3: Two People needed
One person needs to vent the gas cylinder outside and press the black button repeatedly. Meanwhile, the second person turns the gas lever for the refrigerator, opening and closing it several times. This helps remove any remaining air from the lines.
Turn the refrigerator on and off repeatedly during this process.
Check the Pilot Light
The gas refrigerator needs to ignite the gas to cool. When it is running, you should see a small pilot light. This is located outside in a maintenance box at the back of the refrigerator. You can unclip the white grille to access it. There is a yellow safety switch that is also for the refrigerator. If you see the gas flame through the small window, you have done everything correctly, and the refrigerator should be working.
