If your step is out of order, it usually helps to check behind the cover in the driver's compartment below the glove compartment. You have to take a good look and go deep to see what's underneath - your mobile phone front camera can be of assistance here. There are several connectors on the very outside (towards the passenger side), the outermost one is blue. At the bottom of the blue connector frame you can push in a small click lever. Wait a minute and plug it back in. This resets the control unit, which is also responsible for the step.
Please find the step-by-step instruction in the following:
Find the blue connector on the right side in the direction of travel (Image 1 & 2).
Operate the small safety lever and pull out the plug (Image 3).
Leave it unplugged for 1 minute.
Plug the connector back in.
